About the Cook
Marcelo Ballardin is half Brazilian half Italian and initially wanted to study biology. However he soon discovered that his real passion in life is cooking. 4 Years ago he took a training in the London Cordon Bleu School. He took an apprenticeship with Heston Blumenthal and keeps on taking internships: in August he goes to Berlin for a training with Tim Raue! Until very recently Marcelo worked in Cadzand, at Sergio Herman's Pure C, where he used to be the 'food developer', but from now on he puts all his dedication into his own personal OAK adventure! Lucky us! His kitchen obviously shows Italian influences, but the impact of the fresh and spicy herbs of the Asian cuisine, Marcelo's personal favorite, are striking as well when eating at OAK. Who is it Marcelo would love to cook for one day? Thomas Keller, Sergio Herman and Syrco Bakker … and you of course!
